EST - Echo Stress cardiography
What is EST - Echo?
Similar to a regular Exercise Stress Test, the Stress Echocardiogram includes an echocardiogram. The echocardiogram provides images to show how your heart performs under stress.
Before the exercise stress test, you would require to be wearing comfortable clothes that will enable you to walk freely on the treadmill and ensure your safety. We will also advise you to have comfortable shoes that are appropriate for walking and would highly recommend that you bring a bottle of water, as you may feel thirsty at the tail end of your exercise session.
You will be monitored by a nurse and a cardiologist during the testing. You will be placed on a treadmill, your heart rate and blood pressure will be monitored by a nurse. Once your heart rate has reached a certain percentage, an echocardiogram will be performed by a sonographer, who will take images of your heart under stress. The cardiologist will be able to tell you if your test results are normal or abnormal.
